When you least expect it

I saw "Transformers 2" on Wednesday with my BFF Stephy. There is a scene near the beginning when a few soldiers come home in flag-draped caskets. It's not even central to the plot, but I nearly lost it. My eyes watered, and I was this close to outright bawling. Stephy calmed me down by saying, "You're OK. It's fake. Besides, if Fodge is fighting with Autobots, tell him I want one."

He is safely in Iraq, and I talked to him again. He is sick, and the coughing pained me. I hate that I can't take care of him. All I can do is say, "Do you have medicine? Keep taking medicine."

P.S. The phone card sitch is taken care of. He is using something called SPAWAR, and apparently it's pretty cheap.

You know when you write it out I sound a little silly, but I could use one of those protective cars with body armor. Besides... for the record, all the good guys are still alive which means there is nothing to worry about :)

Hugs, Evie. You're stronger than you realize. Also -- keep us informed about if he needs/wants anything, as in care package type stuff. I'd be happy to send some stuff over for him (and you). much love, kiddo.

Yeah did you ever get the new APO address?

Thanks for the support, gals. You absolutely rock. :) I'm sure he'll need baby wipes at some point, so if Sean has any extras ... lol.

And, yes, I just got his address from his mom. (I'm gonna blog this, too, in case you wonder why you're seeing it twice.)

Oh, and rumor has it that if you identify the package as "Gift for soldier," it gets sent faster and isn't opened for inspection ... not sure whether that's actually true ...

I have never heard of writing Gift for Soldier on a package making it go any faster. It goes through the US Postal system until a certain point and then it is taken through the Military Postal System.

Yeah, I don't know how true it is because his mom heard it from his dad, who heard it from his boss. But then again, his dad does work for the Postal Service. So ... I dunno.
